Explaining Back to the Future to a Five year old kid

Okay, so here’s the deal.

In the first Back to the Future movie, there’s this guy.

His name is Marty McFly.

He’s got a friend.

His friend’s name is Doc Brown.

Doc Brown has created a time machine out of a car called a DeLorean.

The car can travel in time, and because of events that are unexpected, Marty McFly ends up going back in time to his past before he was born, when he was still in the future, right?

He hasn’t been born yet, and he meets his parents when they were young.

So that’d be like, imagine you as a grown-up coming, going back in time and talking to your mom and your dad when they were kids.

Does that make sense to you?

Okay.

So he does that, and then he has to find a way, because when he goes back in time, the car kind of runs out of gas, and he has to find a way to get more gas to make the car go back to his present, which is the future in the past where he is, which is very confusing.

So that’s the first Back to the Future movie.

You got any questions?

Okay.

Then the second Back to the Future movie, what they do is they take that same car, they put more gas in it, and it uses different gas now, and they don’t go to the past.

This time they go into the future, and they have to come back to the present.

So in both movies, really, in Back to the Future 1 and Back to the Future 2, what they’re going back to isn’t the future.

It’s back to the present because everything is relative and stuff, and that makes no sense to you, I’m sure.

But that’s kind of how it works, and they’re great movies, and I can’t wait to watch them with you guys one day.
