The antimemetic division

From page 78 of _There is No Antimemetics Division _ by qntm

“Humans can forget anything. It’s okay to forget some things, because we are mortal and finite. But some things we have to remember. It’s important that we remember. Write something that will make you remember.”

I’ve been reading this book just for one day, And I’m extremely entertained by it.

The (non-spoiler) premise is this: There are things and creatures with antiemetic properties. When you encounter them, you can interact with them, you can even interact with them a lot for a long time, but as soon as you walk away from them, you don’t remember the thing or the interaction.

It’s the kind of book that has had an interesting effect on me. Earlier today, I walked into a room, and I couldn’t remember why I walked into it. This happens to me from time to time.

However, this time, I was able to tell myself the fun story that I had just encountered an antimemitoc something. (Of course, I know that that didn’t really happen… But that’s just what the anti-memetic things would want me to believe, isn’t it.)
